The Golden Circle is a model created by Simon Sinek for his book "Start with Why". It is a diagram consisting of three concentric circles. The outermost is named "What", the middle circle is named "How", and the centre circle is named "Why". According to Sinek, the Why is what ideally drives the What and the How.
Sinek claims that leadership is most effective if the Golden Circle is in balance:
"For great leaders, The Golden Circle is in balance. They are in pursuit of WHY, they hold themselves accountable to HOW they do it and WHAT they do serves as the tangible proof of what they believe." (Simon Sinek, "Start with Why (book)")
